photobucket wanted $400 to host your pictures? mine still works fine for free, or is there something I'm missing

PB must be doing it in user account batches or something. I've had an account since day one of PB and now my photos aren't shown anymore and I have to pay for a "3rd party hostable" account. I can still post photo hyper-links but not the photo's directly.

I hoped at first it was going to be for paid-accounts because of storage size, but it no longer looks that way. I only use 17% of my default storage amount so I'm guessing it's a money grab on every account.

Which sucks because they ****ed the site up so much already with all the damn money generating ads. AdBlock shows that 65 ads are blocked on my page... SIXTY FIVE. Makes sense though that they need to generate money other ways since ppl like me are blocking that type of shit.

the ads running on PB was the reason I didn't use it anymore and don't even want to post pics link... thinking how much it will annoy the viewer(guessing as much as me).
but that's really s*&%k lot of the pics here where useful and I posted a lot in the Duratec/MZR thread to.

Yup, I vehemently detest clicking links to photo's in threads, it just breaks down the flow of the thread. That's the single reason I don't use the site hosted image option... well that and it's not world-wide linkable and I don't want to upload the same photo to multiple places.

Google Photos looks like my new go-to host. ETA: It appears even google photos are no longer imbedable. But like you've said, all the legacy pics hosted by PB are gone till you either upgrade your account, or relink EVERY PICTURE you've ever posted.

FU photobucket, you've really ****ed some ppl over with this shit.

Google does allow direct image posting, that's how mine are done. I think now you just right click on the image and copy the location. No need to get the link or embed link like before.

Tried that, at least on my end it just produced the broken picture image. Tried the 3 or 4 different "fixes" found through google searching and still no dice.

All the more reason I've been using my private server for photos. As long as my DNS functions behave correctly, the pics will show.
