Default How fast will "frank" make the GT

Well I'll tell you. frank (details) http://www.turborangerforums.com/showthread.php?t=4788 20 psi, FULL STREET TRIM (full exhaust, DOT tires and 94 octane pump gas)

11.32 @ 123 MPH

I have some issues to work out on launch, I need better shocks so I'll be ordering some caltrac 9 way adjustable shocks. It hits hard hooks then unloads and bounces, the shocks just can't control the hit. Well between the crushed leaf spring perches (a few weeks ago) and the bouncing on launch it broke the end off a tooth on the pinion gear. That could have been messy.

I aborted my last run because I didn't like the launch so I rolled right back to the line but driving in the staging lanes the rear axle just locked right up. So I take off the diff cover and a peice of broken pinion gear tooth is jammed in the ring gear. I picked it out and the rear end rolled free other than a tight spot from the damage. Well it's a simple gear change and I'm back in action right. No because I have 5.14's and I would even settle for 4.88's. 4.56's would be to far off but the biggest I could find was 4.10's, not worth the time. So I'm done for the weekend I can get 5.14's for Monday, so that's what I'll do and be ready for next weekend to continue my quest for 10's The funny thing is on the run I aborted, we had 24psi, race gas and more timing, so I was hoping for 10's that run. Well it's all ready when I get the new gears in....

I have to say I really like this engine combo. It's a little lazy down low but it hits like a sledge hammer at 3500rpm and pulls hard to 8000rpm. The cams have a really nice lump at idle and make great power midrange up and still cruise nice at 2000rpm. It still gets reasonable mileage and has great drivability. I really think it's the magic bullet, Not bad for a budget motor.

So where are those popcans at now.

Thanks guys, it was fun but again it's just the beginning. I have only scratched the surface of the potential and I will find out what this one will go too.

Yes they will be good but bear in mind I'm not done yet so they'll be better yet. I'm only at 20 psi and I plan to go to 30psi for sure, it's a learning experience so we'll have to see what happens.

Thank you guys. I don't want to count my chicken before their hatched but I'm pumped to go 10's and it's right there. My gears will be here Wednesday and I just ordered some Calvert racing 9 way adjustable shocks for the rear as well as some 90/10's for the front (I'll have to make an extension brackets for them). I have the competition engineering 3 way adjustable shocks but their junk, one won`t even adjust and the other is backwards to adjust I DON`T recommend them at all. This should take care of my launch issue or at least get me going in the right direction anyway.

I have video but it`s poor quality so not even worth posting. This weekend I should get some good video and of some faster runs too because it`s already setup to run faster right off the street.
