Talking First time at the track with red truck

Just one word: SICK!

Never tought I would've liked drag racing that much!
Raced agaisnt my friend's mustang gt, he has BBK intake with exhaust and a tune. He was pretty angry that he got beat. Who said there is no replacement for displacement?

Did 5 runs, the first was crap because of the jerking after shifting issue. I decided to try shifting without making my bov blow everything and the jerking was gone

Running a really safe and yes crappy tune @18-19 psi. 10 degrees total timing, and mega jerking if I let throttle off while shifting, with winter tires lol

First run was 15.324 @ 95.27 mph with shitload of jerking after each shift.. My best of the night was 14.318 @98.98 mph.. And all other were also in the 14.3 range... The last one was a 100mph run for sure but I misshifted 4th gear so it killed the run Averaging a 2.5 60ft with 1-2 spinning all the way.

With a good tune and better tires it will go into 12's for sure. My friend also has a video from the outside, I will try to get it too.

So first run with jerking #213:

And my best:

Guess it's a video of my best run also. Sorry for the cross side camera.

Nice runs for a first time. But just to be the debbie downer, I think it's a big leap to get to 12's with what you have running 14.3's as is. I bet you can get 13's as is with a sub 2second 60' and better shifting. The speed is there for it.

Who said it will stay at only 19 psi?

I also think that the ecu might be pulling a lot of timing because of high IAT temps. I saw in my tune on 100 to 140F curve it will pull up to 30* and when I was datalogging the other day it went up to 131F.. My water/meth is after the IAT.

Will be fixing this when I go ms2.. I'm sure this current setup have more potential than only low 14's, maybe not 12s but near there. But good are the chances I go for a paired manifold and bigger turbo for next summer, so I won't be able to see the max of it along with a decent tune

Will get truck on dyno before winter I'm curious to see what it pulls. And to compare for next year.

You did, or rather didn't include raising boost to hit 12's....

Get a pair of G-Force T/A Drag Radials for the rear on 2 separate rims. Street legal if you have to drive to the track and home although I don't suggest it. The tire has really soft walls and crinkle under acceleration and like to shift and roll around under hard cornering. Not sure the life expectancy on them although I bet it's not long for street use. They heat quickly and have a really strong bite. I only borrowed a set for a day at the track off a friend of mines mustang back in Louisiana and he ran 12's on them. They aren't "too expensive" for what they are if I remember correctly.

If you do drive back and forth to the track with them on bring a cheap 12v air compressor and a trusty tire gauge with you to let them down for drag racing and pump them back up for going home.

Cars aren't all about brochures, you have to customize, it's all between you and the car you build, it's like a bond, a commitment. Sounds like a marriage, except when you trade up you don't lose half your sh*t.

Yep it's addictive. Respectable times for your first time, with a little more seat time on the track you'll gain some time. Your mph indicates what kind of potential Ets you can achieve, you could get into mid 13's. The engine may have more in it but it'll take some attention to other parts of the system to get there. Baby steps and you can get there but first get your tune in order and get more seat time. Sticky tires will help you get off the line cleaner. Good job though.

With a better tune, slicks, some sort of traction aid(cal tracs), more boost, and a good launch I think high 12s is reachable from a low 14 as is. You could hit 13s with just a better launch alone. Not sure what you did as far as the launch went, but I had a video of how to make a mustang with a 390 do 12s for cheap, and they launched it at 3,500 to 4000 droping the clutch, slapper bars on the leafs, and a few minor engine mods. Was a high 12 but a 12 none the less. Car was low 14 to begin with.

Sounds great man! I said it before and just saw it was said here. Cal Trac bars! Gotta prevent that axle wrap... What was on the rear in terms of rubber when you raced? Just those street tires on the crager D window wheels? Slicks and a good launch that's 1.5 seconds easily...

On a side note, remember this truck is probably full weight, and had a passenger too...
